The 26-44 Ledger: Just Another Grim Day in Denver

Sports

Another loss. No surprise there. The Oakland Athletics just handed the Colorado Rockies a 6-4 defeat, dragging Denver’s favorite baseball tragedy down to a miserable 26-44 record.

It is getting hard to watch. Yet, we keep looking at the charts, hoping for a miracle that never comes. FanGraphs laid out the math, and it isn’t pretty.

Some bright spots emerged from the wreckage. Lawrence Butler is back. He dragged his squad forward with a +0.38 Win Probability Added, proving some people still have fight left in them.

Then there is Cole Carrigg. A wild colt, indeed. He galloped to a +0.37 WPA, showing flashes of brilliance in an otherwise dreary campaign.

Nice stats. Too bad they don’t change the final score. The comment section is already weeping. Join the misery if you must.
