It gets worse. Ashley Fisler, the 36-year-old former Washington Township middle school teacher already accused of sleeping with a student, now faces a much heavier book. A grand jury handed down a fresh 12-count indictment on Wednesday. The new charges include manufacturing child sexual abuse material.
The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office laid it all out. Fisler, who taught social studies at Orchard Valley Middle School from 2014 until mid-2023, allegedly turned her classroom and her car into crime scenes back in 2021. The victim, now an adult, came forward to blow the whistle. He detailed a sordid relationship that began when he was just a minor.
Investigators dug up the digital receipts. They found a massive paper trail of roughly 7,500 pages of text messages. Many were highly explicit. The digital grooming allegedly continued long after the boy moved on to high school. In one devastating exchange, the former student told Fisler she had left him “mentally broken.” It is a grim paper trail.
Her lawyer is singing the usual tune. Defense attorney Rocco Cipparone claims the state is cherry-picking. He argues the texts lack context and the prosecution lacks real evidence. The court will decide that.
Fisler was first locked up in March. Now, the stakes are sky-high. The first-degree charges carry up to 20 years each. Second-degree counts top out at 10 years. She is out of a job, and if convicted, she will be out of society for a very long time.
