It was never about doing the right thing. It was about survival.
“There were no principles involved here at all,” Bongino snapped during a Tuesday appearance on “The Ingraham Angle.” He painted a picture of a ruthless political machine that viewed Platner not as a public servant, but as a blunt instrument to seize control. Once that instrument broke, they threw it in the trash. He was a tool that lost its edge.
The exodus was swift. Big names like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Representative Ro Khanna, and Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren quickly yanked their endorsements or demanded Platner quit. This sudden rush of conscience only happened after the candidate’s viability evaporated.
The first blow was a bombshell rape accusation. The second landed just a day later. A Washington Post report detailed allegations from Platner’s ex-girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, who accused him of stealthing—removing a condom during sex after she explicitly told him to use one.
Platner’s campaign is in freefall. They denied the claims, calling the latest accusation “categorically false and politically motivated,” but the damage to his run against incumbent Senator Susan Collins is likely fatal.
Bongino remains entirely unimpressed by the sudden moral awakening of the Democratic establishment. To him, the outrage is performative. It is a simple equation of leverage. Platner was bought to secure power, and the moment he became a liability, the transaction was canceled.
