Genoa land Traore in €10m Marseille deal with medical set for Monday

Hamed Junior Traore is heading back to Italy. The former Sassuolo midfielder is scheduled for a Genoa medical on Monday. He joins on loan. The deal includes a permanent option. It could cost up to €10m.

Initial whispers from France via Footmercato pegged the total package at €8m. Italian outlets Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttomercatoweb now claim otherwise. They report the final figure will hit closer to €10m once you factor in the loan fee and various add-ons.

He lands Monday. Medical first, then the paperwork. After that, the Ivorian international will link up with Daniele de Rossi’s squad at their pre-season camp in Moena.

This is a familiar playground for the 26-year-old. He knows Serie A well, having come through the ranks at Empoli before stints with Sassuolo and Napoli. Bournemouth paid a massive €25.6m for him back in 2023, but injuries ruined that adventure, leading to a cut-price €7.7m move to Marseille. Now, Genoa represents a fresh start.
