The Kremlin made it clear on Wednesday that any multinational force deployed by Kyiv’s allies is a non-starter, viewing the move as a direct threat to Russian security.
This warning follows a Paris meeting where Ukraine’s allies reaffirmed plans for a post-war deployment. Dubbed the Multinational Force for Ukraine, this coalition aims to secure the peace and help rebuild Kyiv’s battered military. They even planned joint exercises in the coming months to show they mean business.
Russia isn’t buying the peacekeeping narrative. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the plan a thinly veiled foreign intervention. She warned that these troops would immediately become legitimate military targets. For Moscow, any Western boots on the ground simply raise the stakes of an already volatile conflict.
