Donna Keogh was only 17 when she vanished into thin air on April 28, 1998. She had traveled to Leeds that year, but investigators have long harbored a grim certainty. They believe she was murdered almost immediately after she went missing. Now, a 62-year-old man is sitting in a cell. Cleveland Police nabbed him in the Manchester area on Friday morning, and the interrogation is underway.
This isn’t the first break in the case this year. Not by a long shot. Just months ago, detectives cuffed a 64-year-old man in Leeds on the same murder charge. He is currently out on bail while cops keep digging.
They still have no body. Twenty-eight years of searching, and nothing but dirt and dead ends.
Her family is trapped in limbo. Deputy senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Evan Kirtley, laid it bare, noting the family has endured nearly three decades of “unbearable uncertainty.”
Someone knows the truth. They always do. Kirtley urged anyone with a conscience to finally speak up and give the grieving family some semblance of peace.
