The bill is coming due for the Democratic Party. That is the warning from Senator John Kennedy, who watched Maine Senate hopeful Graham Platner dig his heels in despite a cascade of sexual misconduct allegations and frantic demands from his own allies to pack his bags.
Kennedy did not hold back during a Tuesday night appearance on Fox News. He predicted a massive political reckoning.
According to the Louisiana Republican, most of his Senate colleagues saw the trainwreck coming. He called Platner a clown who cannot even juggle, comparing his campaign to a bad late-night comedy sketch. But once the far-left wing of the party secured him the nomination, Kennedy says raw, ruthless politics took over and common sense went out the window.
Democrats allegedly ignored glaring red flags because they were blinded by the prospect of flipping the seat. Now, that desperation has backfired.
Part of Kennedy wants the embattled candidate to keep running just to watch the opposition squirm. He joked about sending him a check. But the serious side of him sees a predator who has no business holding public office.
