It happened in Battersea. Emergency services rushed to Glycena Road, near Lavender Hill, around 04:20 BST on Saturday after reports of a street fight. They found Coombes. Paramedics and air ambulance crews did what they could, but it was too late. He died right there on the tarmac. His family is currently being guided through the wreckage of their lives by specialist officers.
The Met is doing its usual rounds. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie offered the standard condolences, acknowledging the shockwaves rippling through the local neighborhood. But sympathy doesn’t solve cases. Howie needs eyes on the street.
Detectives believe a pre-dawn altercation sparked the killing. They want to know who saw a group of males running through the quiet residential streets—specifically Glycena, Acanthus, or Pountney Roads—between 03:30 and 05:00.
