The Minnesota Twins finally got some good news. Catcher Ryan Jeffers is back on the active roster after spending nearly two months on the shelf recovering from a fractured left hamate bone.
Before his hand gave out, the 29-year-old was absolutely tearing the cover off the ball. He slashed .295 with a stellar .949 OPS, launching seven home runs and driving in 26 runs over just 37 games. He didn’t look rusty during his brief rehab stint in Triple-A either. Jeffers raked at a .375 clip with two homers in five games. He is ready.
This is Jeffers’ seventh year in Minnesota. Over 552 career games, he has hit .243 with 75 home runs.
To clear a spot for the returning backstop, the Twins sent outfielder Kyler Fedko down to Triple-A. Fedko had a rough go of it in the big leagues, going hitless in 16 at-bats across 14 appearances.
